The Pearson Edexcel A Level specification is structured into three 'components', assessed across two examinations and one coursework assessment. For each of these components you will be required to read some pre-selected texts, which are listed below:

For your coursework, you will study one fiction text and one non-fiction text. On this course you will study:

In order to attain this qualification you must sit two examinations and submit a piece of coursework, details of which can be seen below. Booking exams is the responsibility of the student. Any and all exam fees will be paid by the student directly to their chosen exam centre. On purchasing the course we will provide students with a list of recommended exam centres.
Paper 1: Voices in Speech and Writing *Paper Code: 9ELO/01
This is a written examination consisting of two sections. This is an 'open book' examination, meaning that students can take a clean copy of the prescribed text into the exam.
Section A: Voices in the 20th-21st Century Texts
One comparative essay question on one unseen extract selected from 20th or 21st century sources and one text from the anthology.
Section B: Drama Texts
One extract-based essay from on the chosen drama text.

This is a written examination consisting of two sections. This is an 'open book' examination, meaning that students can take a clean copy of the prescribed text into the exam.
Section A: Unseen Prose Non-Fiction Texts
One essay question on an unseen prose non-fiction extract from a choice of four. The unseen extract is linked to the studied theme.
Section B: Drama Texts
One comparative essay question from a choice of four on one prose fiction anchor text and one other text from a theme.

Coursework: Investigating and Creating Texts *Paper Code: 9ELO/03
The coursework component consists of two assignments. Your tutor will assist you with process of submitting your coursework to the exam centre.
Assignment 1:
Two pieces of original writing; one piece of fiction writing and one piece of creative non-fiction writing.
Assignment 2:
One analytical commentary reflecting on their studied texts and the two original writing pieces they have produced
